Description
The native observability suites (AWS CloudWatch, GCP Cloud Monitoring/Logging, Azure Monitor) all collect metrics, logs, and traces and drive dashboards and alerts, with the advantage of deep, automatic integration with their own platform's services. They differ in how metrics, logs, and traces are packaged (sometimes as separate sub-services), in their query languages, and in retention and alerting models. Third-party tools are also widely used across clouds for a single pane of glass. To the best of our knowledge the native suites are comparable for in-cloud observability; the choice usually follows which cloud you run in and whether you want a cross-cloud tool.
